About Mixed and United

Mixed and United began as a drama group in July 2011, led by Daniel, meeting for weekly drama workshops at vzw Bats, Paardenmarkt, with the focus on devised theatre. Their one show in this period, Journey to the Psychiatrist, came in May 2012 at the FEATS fringe festival in Antwerp.

In 2013, M & U relocated to Cafe Multatuli, Lange Vlierstraat, where they have been rehearsing on Thursday evenings ever since. After a chance meeting with musicians, Piotr and Chadwick, in late 2013, the idea came to mix improvised theatre and music together.

Then, in September 2014, they embarked on the first public 'Theatre Machine' show, namely The Road to Eurovision. Further performances, all at the Zirkuszaal have taken place since, The Theatre Machine Strikes Back in November 2014, The Funfair in March 2015, and Return to the Funfair in May 2015. This latest offering, Curtains, has continued the trend towards theatresports, where the actors play in two teams and the audience is the jury, all monitored by a presenter/referee.

In 2006, M&U got interested in longplay format inspired by Harolds. The shows 'Improv on the Rocks', 'Sneak Peek', and 'Season Finale' were 3 by 3 long plays where three parallel stories were improvised and played for the duration of the show.
